There are various playable characters in Rail Rush that have unique abilities, although they are formerly called “heroes” in the Worlds and mobile versions,
Selecting a CharacterEdit
It is important to note that the game does not prompt the player to choose their character before starting a run. To choose a character, the player must go to the in-game shop, go to the “Characters”/“Heroes” section, click/tap the character they want to use and click/tap the “Select”/“Equip” button. A green check mark will indicate which character is selected to ride the minecart.
The List of CharactersEdit
Each character, with the exception of Bob Molechaser, has unique abilities that allow the player to earn more nuggets or avoid certain obstacles. However, players who need to complete missions need to strategically and carefully choose the characters whose abilities do not hinder the completion of these missions. For example, a mission requiring the player to near-miss 20 left obstacles would be impossible to complete with Daryl Plankbuster, who shoots all of such obstacles before they are ever approached.
a. These characters appear in all versions of Rail Rush. These characters are also playable in the coin-op arcade version.
b. These characters appear in the Worlds and mobile versions of Rail Rush. Both of them possess the ability to obtain more nuggets. Both characters are playable in the coin-op arcade version.
c. These characters appear in the Worlds and mobile versions of Rail Rush and are well distinguished for possessing very powerful abilities. For this reason, these characters are in-app purchases in the mobile version. They can be tried with trial passes in the Android version. In the Worlds version, these characters can be purchased with nuggets, albeit with a significantly large sum. Twinblade San and Julie Braveheart also exist in the coin-op arcade version.
d. These characters have abilities that are endemic to any of the three “seasonal” worlds featured in the Worlds and mobile versions of Rail Rush. These characters each cost 25,000 nuggets. In the mobile version, each of these characters is only for sale at their respective times of year. For example, Santa Claus is only for sale from November of one year to January of the next year. In the Worlds version, these characters are available all year-round.
e. These characters have abilities that are endemic to different worlds and are absent from the classic version. Only Dr. Prop is available for sale from the start.
